Top Five Unlucky NASCAR Drivers So Far This Season

#1 Jimmie Johnson.

This has to be Jimmie Johnson’s worst season in quite a while.

two top-fives and six top-tens are all Johnson has on his stat sheet right now and while that is good enough to land him 12th in the point standings, he is currently on the biggest winless streak of his career and is even in danger of missing the playoffs if he has anymore bad luck. In fact,  Johnson is a measly 53 points ahead of  the cutoff point right now and could easily lose that before the postseason.

Looking closer at Johnson’s record, he didn’t manage to nab a top-ten finish in the first four races of The Cup Series season and wrecked out of two of the first seven races of the season.  As if that wasn’t bizarre enough, Johnson also has only lead two laps this season, which is indicative of a massive struggle with him and his team.

Of course there are several Chevrolet teams that are having trouble right now and Johnson seems to be the best off among them, but this is not what fans of the seven time champion have expected of him. While Chase Elliott probably deserved this spot on the list for many reasons, it is the fact that fans expect more from Johnson that puts him here.
