#4 Ryan Newman.
Ryan Newman has been in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series for 18 years now and while he has been successful in making the final four once during that time and making the playoffs three times under the new system, he is now 40 years old and not really moving forward anymore. Sure, he finished second the inaugural year of the new playoff format, but he then followed that up by finishing 11th the next year and 18th the year after that.
Fortunately for Newman, he might have a little bit more fight left in him, especially after coming home with the win at Phoenix last year , but his contract might be up at the end of the 2018 season and Childress might want to bring in his other grandson. With that being said, the move would involve Dillon getting out of his contract with Germain Racing, which could be possible given Germain Racing’s alliance with RCR.
