Best: NASCAR’s focus on younger fans
Its no secret that NASCAR has losing die hard fans for years now, but they have seemingly stopped the bleeding after focusing more of their attention on the younger viewers. In fact, a lot of NASCAR drivers, including Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, and others have started to pick young fans out of the crowd and reward them with the checkered flag. Harvick even took a selfie with a young fan next to his winning car at Texas, which garnered the sport a lot of attention.
While older NASCAR fans probably wish they were be being catered to more and that NASCAR would go back to the way it used to, what NASCAR is starting to do is very smart on their part. Not only does it plant the seeds for the individual l to become a lifelong fan, it also makes the sport a much more inclusive environment than it used to be. If nothing else, its smart marketing and creates a new crop of fans that will be a little more forgiving of the sports ills.
