#9 segment racing tweaks.
Another thing NASCAR needs to do if it wants a long and fruitful future is to make a few tweaks to their segment racing format. Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean segment racing in and off itself isn’t working, its just the way NASCAR has it configured right now. With that in mind, a 25 or 30 lap segment is probably going to be a lot more exciting to watch, then a 60 lap single file snooze fest that mercilessly ends after a half hour or so.
In the end, one of the main things NASCAR has been using to create excitement lately is bunch up the field and that’s exactly what these tweaks will do. NASCAR could also increase the number of segments, which will give more drivers an opportunity to collect points and creates more chances for intense last lap passes.
