Seven NASCAR Drivers That Could Become Free Agents At The End Of The Season

#3 Kurt Busch

What’s next for Kurt Busch?

The former Cup Series champion signed a one year extension with SHR at the beginning of the season, but what happens after that? While ESPN.com is reporting that Monster Energy could stay Busch’s sponsor for one more year, Stewart Haas Racing could  decide not to sign Busch again and make him a free agent.

This would be very interesting for several reasons. The first reason is that it opens up the possibility of Busch going back to Roush Fenway Racing, which would be who he won his first championship with. Another great possibility is for him to go to Furniture Row Racing’s secondary team and become Martin Truex Jr’s teammate.

In the end, a lot could be riding on Kurt Busch’ and SHR’s decision at the end of the year, which means that NASCAR could be in for quite the shakeup if Busch walks away.
