In the end NASCAR implementing these changes might be great for the overall product and lead to some of the best racing that NASCAR has ever seen during an all star race, but it comes at a price. For NASCAR, that price is the safety and the well being of the drivers that compete in their sport.
Who knows! Maybe NASCAR will check into the safety aspects of a format like this and do everything they can to ensure the safety of their drivers, but if they don’t and they try to only focus on how the new format will look, they may also face the same outcome that Indycar faced when Dan Wheldon was killed during a race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011.
