Pros and Cons of NASCAR Using Restrictor Plates At More Tracks

Pro: leveling the playing field.

While The All Star race wasn’t the greatest example of how restrictor plates can level the playing field for The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series, especially since the lead car seemed to still have a distinct advantage once they hit clean air, it still showed that it was a step forward in how NASCAR can give everyone a chance to win every single race day.

Of course that could be a bad thing depending on who you ask, but it was still very encouraging to see drivers like Ricky Stenhouse Jr, AJ Allmendinger and Kasey Kahne be able to stay somewhat competitive with the rest of the field throughout the night. It was also encouraging to see how much more aggressively drivers would fight for the lead for multiple laps before the lead car got the advantage.
