Con: Driver safety.
One problem with this new format however would be the fact that it comes at the expense of driver safety, which should be of the upmost importance to NASCAR no matter what. While some might see this as a mute point, especially with how safe the cars are at this point in the sports history, its not like drivers cant still get injured in there.
In fact, NASCAR need to look no further then the 2017 crash of Aric Almirola and the 2016 crash at Daytona by Kyle Busch to see that there is still a very real possibility of suffering major injuries inside the car. Not only that, NASCAR has also had problems with drivers getting concussed in the past, which could mean that excitement created may not be worth the safety risk.
