There are multiple ways to be remembered in NASCAR
Take for example Dale Earnhardt Jr, who despite finishing 25th at Homestead Miami Speedway and failing to win a race in his final year as a full time Cup Series driver, continued to talk up his team and the future they have ahead of them with Alex Bowman. Unfortunately for Danica Patrick’s #10 Stewart Haas Racing team, they were the subject of ridicule during an interview about her last race as a full season competitor.
Patrick was asked about her retiring from full time competition after the conclusion of Sunday’s race at Homestead Miami and while she did talk about being an inspiration to woman for her competing in a field full of men, she also told the reporter that she probably had a better shot at Daytona next year then she does at the season finale at Homestead this year. She then followed that up with a laugh before the pitiful interview ended.
Of course some aren’t going to see this as controversial or even as mocking her team, but it is a far departure from what Dale Earnhardt Jr had to say about his team after the race. In fact, that seems to be the most noticeable difference between Earnhardt and Patrick’s careers. Dale Earnhardt Jr is investigated in his team and the future of NASCAR while Danica Patrick is obviously just invested into herself.
