#2 Kurt Busch retires.
Kurt Busch signed a one year deal with Stewart Haas Racing to return to the #41 Ford for the 2018 season, but it is unlikely that he will continue past that. Not only is that evident by the nature of the deal, but also by the fact that he hasn’t won a race in over a year and really isn’t really staying that competitive either.
While the former Daytona 500 winner has two top-fives and seven top-tens, which is good enough to land him seventh in the standings, his teams sponsorship issues mixed with his sub par performance is going to lead to him being let go by the end of the year. In fact, he may even retire from the sport completely to peruse broadcasting.
