NASCAR: Five Silly Season Updates That Fans Need To Know About

Chad Knaus signs two year extension with Hendrick

While there was a little bit of doubt on whether the dream team that won seven championships would stay together, it appears they will stay an item until 2020. Fortunately for Johnson, Knaus and Hendrick, the deal also means that the team should have no trouble finding a new sponsor after the departure of Lowe’s

“This shows that we’ve got stability between Jimmie and I moving forward,”¬† ¬†which I think is obviously appealing to anybody [looking to sponsor],” Knaus said during an interview with ESPN.com . “As we’re going to battle and then vying for our eighth title, I would think anybody would be foolish not to be on board with that.”

Whether that turns out to be true or not remains to be seen and will most likely be highly dependent on if Johnson and Knaus can end their winless streak or not, but at least Hendrick is keeping the winning formula in place. Maybe it results in one more championship and maybe it won’t, but it gives them a few more shots at doing it.
