NASCAR: Five Drivers Worth Rooting For And Five Drivers Not Worth Rooting For in 2018

Worth it: Kyle Larson

Does anyone else get the feel that Kyle Larson could be a legitimate NASCAR legend by the end of his Cup Series career? While that might seem preposterous after Larson was bogged down with DNF after DNF during the playoffs, but his four wins, 15  top-fives and 20 top- tens makes him one of the most consistent drivers of 2017 and really gives him a lot of momentum heading into the 2018.

DNF’s aside, this kid can race and finish consistently in the same way that Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt, Kyle Busch and others have been able to do over the course of their careers. Not only that, he has that killer instinct that drivers like Chase Elliott seem to lack, making him a contender for the victory on any given race day.

Then there’s his ability on restarts, which while sometimes doesn’t play out in his favor, there are other times when he is simply masterful at using the close quarters racing during the restarts to his advantage and collecting win after win. In the end, fans need to sit back, relax and just watch this kid race. It is simply amazing to watch this young man grow into The Champion he will one day be.
