Not worth rooting for: Clint Bowyer
It also stinks to see a top ride go to a guy that ends up squanders it, but that’s exactly what seemed to happen when Clint Bowyer took over for Tony Stewart at the beginning of the season. Of course Bowyer did have some strong finishes throughout the season, even managing to finish 18th in the final point standings, he was never able to get the momentum he needed and failed to get a win in his first season with the team.
Even worse, he only managed three top five finishes in the final ten races of the season and while one of those was a third place finish at Martinsville, he still never had the level of consistency that would be indicative of a top tier team. Whether Bowyer can change things and run the table in 2018 is up to him, but its probably not worth betting on right now.
