Disappointment: NASCAR shopping around for a buyer.
If NASCAR fans needed proof that the sport was on a downward spiral, look no further then the fact that rumors began to circulate earlier this year about The France family selling NASCAR. The rumor was revealed by three sources close to the situation and it claimed that The France family was trying to see what the sport was worth and who would want to buy it.
Once the rumors came out, NASCAR sent a letter to their employees trying to calm them down and saying that they wouldn’t comment on,” industry speculation, but it was clear that The France family was considering their options. In the end however, it would be very sad to see Brian France Jr and his family do this and a huge betray in the trust that some people still have in the sport.
Surprise Aric Almirola.
Aric Almirola made headlines after being taken out in the final moments of The Daytona 500 by eventual winner, Austin Dillon, but that wasn’t the last that fans would hear of him. Interestingly enough, a driver that could run top-15 at best a season or two ago, is now sitting 11th in points with 1 top-five and a staggering 9 top-ten’s
Of course Almirola’s stat sheet pales in comparison to that of the big three and other top competitors right now, but it is a marked improvement from where Almirola stood a year ago. It also shows that a win could be on the way for Almirola and his team, which would guarantee him a spot in the playoffs in his first year with SHR.
All in all, Almirola is showing a lot of consistency right now and while it might not lead to a championship in his first year with SHR, that doesn’t mean a win and shot at the final four are out of the question!
