Will Danica Patrick race in 2018 Daytona 500?
While the former Daytona 500 pole winner announced during a press conference that she would be racing in The Daytona 500 and The Indianapolis 500, plans apparently fell through and now she might not get one last chance at a Cup Series win. Of course things could always change and she could strike a deal with a Cup Series team, maybe even Chip Gannasi to bring her in, but things just don’t look very good at this moment in time.
“I thought it was going to be a quicker process, but you can’t rush things,” Patrick said during an interview on The Morning Drive on Sirius XM. “I’m a big believer more and more all the time of letting things flow and just letting things take shape in the way that they would. And that’s kind of why I ended where I ended with finishing up my full-time career last year and doing the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500 for this year. I didn’t push anything, I just let things flow and it’s turned out to be just perfect.”
Patrick might sound a little impatient and even a little bit delusional in her hoping that a deal would come together for her to run at Daytona and Indy, those are two tracks that she would have the best chance at winning at and could play huge dividends for the rest of her life if she was able to pull out a win in one of the two big races. With that being said, she’s going to need a good car, a smart game plan and some good luck to make that happen.
