#3 Segments were too long
Watching Charlotte Motor Speedway become a mini Talladega was fun and all, but the effect of the restrictor plates seemed to wear off as each segment wore on. That’s not to say that the implementation of the restrictor plates at Charlotte wasn’t a good idea, but needs some fine tuning before we can consider it perfect.
With that being said, maybe NASCAR should work to make the segments shorter and even think about segments only being ten laps. While that isn’t a lot of time to get to the front for those in the back, pit strategy, and the closeness of the pack during the entire field should be enough to balance things out.
