#1 Lead car still has an advantage.
The biggest problem of the race was that while NASCAR accomplished their mission of bunching up the pack and creating more exciting racing, they weren’t able to completely eliminate the lead car advantage like they promised they would. Unfortunately for NASCAR fans, that usually meant that whoever got out to the front first usually stayed their for the entire segment.
Again, this race was an improvement from the formats of the past, but the fact that the lead car still had a slight advantage on the field and that not one could really reel them in made the race kind of predictable. It also made the restarts and pit stops the most important parts of the race, which had to be disappointing to see for those that were hoping for more lead changes.
