#2 Hendrick Motorsports in The #48
Jimmie Johnson has said time and time again that he will retire after winning his eight championship and while there isn’t a very high likelihood that this happens at the end of the 2018 season, one has to wonder what would happen if it did. Furthermore, one has to wonder who would take that ride.
With that being said, if Johnson does retire for one reason or another at the end of the season, Martin Truex Jr would be the best person to take the champions place. Not only is that evident by the fact that it would put another experienced driver behind the wheel that can lead the younger drivers on the team, but also would give Chevrolet the competitive edge over Toyota.
In the end, its the perfect move for Martin Truex Jr to stay competitive, gives Hendrick Motorsports a new leader and could again be what moves the needle in Chevy’s direction for the first time in almost two years.
