#7 Ryan Newman
Another reason why someone can end up on a biggest bust list is when they are compared to people that entered the sport around the same time. For Ryan Newman, that would be Jimmie Johnson, who he beat out for Rookie of the year back in 2002, but never seemed to match The seven time champion’s success after that.
In fact, if you compare the two in wins and championships, Jimmie Johnson runs the board with seven titles and 83 wins compared to Ryan Newman’s zero championships and 18 wins. Not only that, Johnson has found success with the same team his entire career, while Newman started out with Penske, moved to Stewart Haas Racing and then moved to RCR years alter.
In the end, Newman has had a very impressive career compared to many of the others on this list, but there was so much more expected of him that he never lived up to. In fact, compared to drivers that entered The Cup Series after him like Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Busch, he stands with less wins then them!
